you will go through ALOT of band members before you find one you like. My son has stopped being in bands and writes his own music now. Hes going to open mic night next month, you can do that too when you get your music together.

I also agree with the comment about going through a lot of band members. I've been playing for about 6 years and it doesn't always work out. But it can be fun!

I think the best way to do it (if you aren't nervous or shy around others) is to find someone you can hang out with on a non-band level. Most of the people I play with now (or have before) I hang out with a few times just to see if we get along, and many of them are now my best friends. And then you see if you still want to write music with them from there.

I joined my first band when I was 17 as the rhythm guitarist, and it was extremely intimidating being around other musicians who knew what they were doing, when I was still learning.

But keep your head up! I've had great times with my bandmates. Just keep your options open and I'm sure you'll have a fun time.

Don't worry. Pretty soon you will have more stuff to start a band with.
(I don't mean people)
